10 Haunted And Spooky Places You Can Visit Online During The Coronavirus Pandemic

We are all in this together. The human world, the animal world, and yes the spirit world are all forced to hunker down and socially distance ourselves. For a horror and science fiction lover, it is a blessing and a curse. We finally have time to watch all those movies and series we always wanted to but never had time for but it’s much harder to experience real thrills nowadays. I’ll admit to a certain joy at knowing I don’t have to get out of my pajamas for a while. For those who are over fictional scares, there are 10 haunted and spooky virtual tours.

I have binged everything from Supernatural from the beginning to 3022 a well-cast chamber piece starring Omar Epps, Kate Walsh, Miranda Cosgrove, and Angus MacFadyen. I have taken deep dives into the well of all things psychological horror on Shudder who has been kind enough to give 30 days free to everyone using either the code SIGNAL or SHUTIN. If permanently free is more your thing Tubi TV has some excellent genre choices for every interest. Once you have exhausted your movie watching and your ready for some real life scares there are quite a few virtual tours of haunted and creepy places. Here are the 10 haunted and spooky places you can virtually tour right now.

Ft East Martello Museum Key West

The big attraction here is Robert the Doll. He is nearly 100 years old and rumored to be cursed. He does all kinds of creepy things like move around on his own, follow the museum docents, giggle, and mess with photography equipment. This is one scary doll. Even though the security of a computer screen he gives you the chills.

Lizzie Borden House

Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 wacks and then when she saw what she’d done she gave her father 41. Located in Fall River Massachusettes her former family home may be the most recognizable murder story in America. This virtual tour is slickly done and genuinely scary. The hosts are also pretty darn funny. It’s a fun walkthrough of a captivating story. When it’s over, watch Lizzie on Shudder. It’s a stylish psychosexual thriller that puts a fresh spin on the old story.

The Museum Of Colorado Prisons

Located in Canyon City, Colorado the museum is a cool testament to the state’s prison system. More of a ghost hunt than a tour it nonetheless hs a few scares. The prison memorabilia is creepy enough, but in the dark, it is downright unsettling. There are some strange sounds, moving things, and one nasty mannequin.

The RMS Queen Mary

The ship turned hotel has been haunted almost from the beginning. Over 60 deaths have taken place on board at different times. Parapsychologists insist there are vortices near the pool changing area that make the ship vulnerable. The ship is docked in Longbeach, California and this is the actual tour the public can take when visiting the ship.

The Elms Hotel

The Elms Hotel and Spa in Excelsior Springs, Missouri is the real deal. I have stayed there myself and can attest to the chilling feeling I had the whole time. I’m not sure I would stay again I was so unsettled. The hotel and staff are accomodating and gorgeous but the ghosts not so much. The entire town is rich in history and is a good visit once the crisis is over.

The Haunted Mansion

I realize I am cheating with this one but if you have young kids into this stuff this is a perfect way to experience Disney World or Disney Land and a few scares too. The Mouse and his employees need our support too. It’s not the real deal but block everything out and imagine you are in the Happiest Place on Earth. It’s a small world after all.

The Stanley Hotel Room 217

The inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining in Estes Park, Colorado is legit haunted. Room 217, in particular, is a place even the toughest souls won’t stay. This tour provides a glimpse inside the entire hotel and then a ghost hunt in room 217 specifically. The King of Horror claims he was terrified by a nightmare he had while staying in the room and that is the basis for his novel.

Crescent Hotel

The hotel located in Eureka Springs, Arkansas is considered to be the most haunted house in America. The healing springs of the town are not the only things of interest in this town. This is the actual full-length tour the public takes including the visit to the morgue. It’s a cool tour with a lot packed into the nearly hour-long experience.

Hellier

There is something going on in Hellier and it is terrifying. Planet Weird did a deep dive on the town and the stories of beasts, aliens, and monsters that persist in Hellier, Kentucky. There are two seasons so far of all their experiences and fingers crossed there will be a third. You can watch all of it on Amazon Prime or Youtube.

The Winchester Mystery House

Easily the most intriguing of all the places the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California is weird with a capital W and five exclamation points!!!!! Built by Sarah Winchester the widow of the firearm mogul William Wirt Winchester it is either a testament to mental illness or something much darker. It is a must-see for all horror fans. Stairs and doorways to nowhere and traps for ghosts are just some of the highlights. You can take the full professional tour here.

It’s not the same as being there in person, but it is better than nothing so get to virtual touring until we can be there for real. There are tons of walkthroughs and tours just waiting to fill your days and nights. The 10 listed above are certainly not all the tours out there just some of our favorites in person or behind a computer screen.
