Apple TV +’s Lisey’s Story First Look Photos

Apple TV+’s Lisey’s Story first look photos from the limited series premiering on June 4th with the first two episodes.

Stephen King is nothing if he isn’t prolific. In the past, he had a steady list of projects under development. With his recent resurgence of popularity, it isn’t just an endless stream but an onslaught of continuous programming. Hulu’s recently canceled Castle Rock was excellent, weaving many of the stories together in Maine’s titular world while bringing fresh stories to the mythos. CBS’s The Stand was a reboot of the miniseries with a new epilogue from the writer himself. Additionally, Mr. Mercedes is streaming on Peacock. While they all are great, none of them have quite the emotional journey of fantasy and love that Lisey’s Story does. For fans that like genre-defying offerings, this is sure to be a hit.

Based on King’s novel of the same name, Apple TV +’s miniseries is a reimagining of the original book. King himself penned all eight episodes of the limited series script, so you know it will be faithful to his initial vision. Lisey’s Story is an intimate love story about the things we choose to remember and what we intentionally forget. After Lisey’s husband’s death, a series of disturbing events cause Lisey to remember aspects of her marriage she would rather forget and some things she must embrace to save herself and her sister.

Her former husband was a famous novelist with terrible tragedy in his past that still colors Lisey’s present. The cast is bulging with incredible talent, with Academy Award winner Julianne Moore as Lisey, Academy Award nominee Clive Owen portraying Scott. It also features the incomparable Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones, and Sung Kang.

The novel, which combines Gothic and psychological horror and romance elements, is spread over two timelines—Lisey’s life after Scott’s death and their lives in the past. Scott’s family had a long history of mental illness, including several deaths as a direct result. Lisey must find her inner strength and ability; when an obsessed fan brutally attacks her, she must access her repressed abilities. Scott was able to pass into another world he called Boo’ya Moon, and Lisey shares that ability. She helps her sister, who is catatonic, by entering the other world with her and then lures in the madman. There is no word yet on how much or how little of Boo’ya Moon is actualized, but pictures are worth a thousand words.

The first two episodes will air on June 4th, with two new episodes premiering weekly thereafter.
