Firestarter First Look-Out Of The Frying Pan And Into The Fire
Stephen King’s classic story about dangerous government overreach, fear of otherness, and coming of age concerns is getting a remake starring Zac Efron, Gloria Reuben, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. It premiers May 13th exclusively on Peacock and seems to be taking a page from the 1984 original but increasing the horror. The first film starring drew Barrymore was scary, but the newest one looks more like an involuntary Brightburn than a vulnerable child on the run film. The first extended trailer is here and it is a doozy.
Charlie doesn’t just start fires, she has telekinesis to rival even Carrie’s abilities. She’s got skills and she barely has control over them. Her parents have been training her since she was a child to control her powers but when an accident reveals their location they are forced to run to avoid the shadowy agency hellbent on turning her into a military weapon. Charlie has other plans though.
