La Brea Season 2 Episode 11 The Wedding Review And Recap- Can Kira Or James Be Trusted?

Another day, another crisis to avert in a sweet La Brea Season 2 Episode 11 that ends in disaster. We now know which side Kira is on. Here’s a hint, it isn’t ours. Duplicity is the name of the game in 10,000 BCE. No one seems to be capable of telling the whole, unvarnished truth. Friends and allies keep secrets to protect hearts, and enemies tell lies to gain an advantage. Of course, we all hide things from each other. Sometimes they are little white lies designed to preserve feelings or keep the peace. Others are more complex deceptions we fool ourselves into thinking are for the greater good. Where loyalties are constantly being questioned and dangers, we can’t even imagine lurking everywhere; lies and omissions can get you killed. Just ask Caroline, whose time was cut short in La Brea Season 2 Episode 11.

While everyone is preparing for Ty and Paara’s wedding, forces are closing in on the village. What should have been the happiest day for Ty and Paara, who both deserve to have a little joy after what they have been through, ends with a kidnapping, a theft, and a death. It all starts with Silas getting shot and Dr. Moore’s notes being taken. Caroline leaves the notes with Silas when she returns to the clearing, but when he is shot, the notes disappear. Caroline worries about James getting so close to Gavin and his family; however, she should have been more concerned about Kira, who has staged a coup right under his nose.

Everyone important now knows about Project Blue Moon and James. Ty and Gavin think James is changing and might be worth trusting, while Levi has reasons to remain angry and distrustful. His wife died in a sinkhole disaster in 1998, and he isn’t ready to forgive so quickly. His plan to poison James at the wedding might have worked if Eve hadn’t stopped him. She is worried that James can’t be trusted to safeguard the timeline and, thus, her children’s lives, but she isn’t willing to let that corrupt her. Levi seems to listen, but his fear and anger get the better of him. She stopped him this time, but I’m not convinced this won’t be a problem in the future.

Veronica and Lucas continue to be a formidable pair. Her connection to Aaron’s journal and the bible verses he drummed into her head will be the key to cracking the code. In addition to being a kidnapper and all-around sicko, Aaron was an intellectual thief. The low-level computer tech at Lazarus plagiarized others’ work. He was a dumb enough thief, though, to keep records of everything in the little journal he protected so carefully. After what amounts to the best date ever in 10,000 BCE, Veronica and Lucas’ bond is stronger than ever. With a refreshed mind, she is beginning to put the clues together. Unfortunately, Kira comes uninvited to the party and steals the journal before they can decode it. Hopefully, Veronica will remember enough of it to use the information against Kira.

I continue to be impressed with Lily Santiago(Veronica) and Josh McKenzie(Lucas). They have developed a natural chemistry between them that took time to grow. Instead of the forced chemistry that is created in the span of one or two episodes, we have watched as they patiently formed trust and affection for one another. Lucas has always been a fun character to watch with his bad boy with a heart of gold thing, but Veronica was a tougher sell. For so much of last season, we watched as she did shady things. In La Brea Season 2 Episode 11, we finally got the resolution we wanted for her. She has come full circle and is comfortable with herself and the part she can play in saving everyone.

I’m still not sure James can be trusted. Jonno Roberts(James) is a great villain. He is calm and conceited, with a smile that hides venom. His slick, megalomaniac vibe betrays the family man he pretends to be now. He may think he has changed, but when push comes to shove, will he really sacrifice his life’s work and a past with Isaiah he never had? I’m not so sure.

For now, he is on Gavin’s side, but everything shifts like most alliances in La Brea. Yesterday’s friend may be tomorrow’s foe and vice versa. As beautiful and lovely as the ceremony with the seeds is in La Brea Season 2 Episode 11, it ends with ugliness. Human greed and hubris always rear its head. Kira’s agenda was power and control. What is her end game? Will she continue to treat Ty’s cancer? As easily the most likable character, his loss would be profound.

As with most impossible things in La Brea, Silas survived being shot at point-break range. How that’s possible without the medical supplies at Lazarus, I can’t imagine, but he is living. Sam intervened with sage advice when it seemed like Riley and Josh were headed for a split, and Scott has found another thing to obsess over. The anxiety-ridden anthropologist hasn’t accepted killing Taamet last week. This seemingly meaningless plot beat will have more significant consequences in the future. The writers consistently set up Scott as comedic relief. I predict, though, that this joker will be more than a fool. His trauma will haunt him and cause problems for the whole group. It is a matter of time.

Paara isn’t going to take the abduction of her husband well. She has already sent for warriors, and with James’ help, Kira will not be prepared for what is coming. James says he kept a few secrets from Kira. He may have lost control of the tower, but he has a few tricks up his sleeve. So Kira better get ready because Paara is coming, and Hell is coming with her. Find all our La Brea coverage here.
