Nightscape Press Launches Kickstarter!

There’s little we love more at Signal Horizon than horror. From the grand and cosmic to the quietly eerie—we love it all, it’s in our blood. But more than genre, we admire and appreciate the people who keep this great ship afloat—the authors, artists, and the small press publishers who amplify their work.

Nightscape Press is one of those publishers. In a relatively short amount of time, through sheer vision and perseverance, they’ve become one of the most exciting presses publishing weird and literary horror fiction today. Better still, they do so with a strong conscience, regularly releasing chapbooks that benefit charities of the author’s choosing.

We’ve covered some of their books before (here, here, here, and here) and honestly, we want to cover them again. That’s why we want you, dear reader, to consider backing their Kickstarter—not only to help an awesome publisher stay afloat, but also to reap the benefits of some great perks.

In their own words, from their own website:

“Nightscape Press needs your help. We launched a brand new Kickstarter yesterday. After our 2018 Kickstarter for Ashes and Entropy, the success of both that campaign and our Charitable Chapbooks line as well as the incredibly positive reaction to Ashes and Entropy gave us a boost of confidence that led us to believe we could manage to launch these projects without the help of Kickstarter. This was a huge miscalculation on our part and one we’ve been struggling with trying to correct on our own for far too long.

Here is where you come in. We have all the content to create two amazing projects with full color artwork by brilliant artists like Harry O. Morris, Luke Spooner, Don Noble, and Aeron Alfrey, and fantastic stories by an astonishing array of talented horror and weird fiction authors.

  • The Secret Gateways hardcover boxset will be a boxed set of three hardcovers including two modern classics of unsettling weird fiction: The Secret of Ventriloquism by Jon Padgett and Gateways to Abomination by Matthew M. Bartlett; and a third slim volume titled The Latham-Fielding Liaison consisting of four weird mind-bending tales written by both authors in collaboration with each other.
  • Nox Pareidolia is my fifth anthology and a Bram Stoker Award Finalist, a This is Horror Award Finalist, and an Indie Horror Award Finalist. The book was published in eBook and black and white trade paperback editions last year and includes stories by Laird Barron, S.P. Miskowski, Brian Evenson, Kristi DeMeester, Michael Wehunt, Gwendolyn Kiste, Zin E. Rocklyn, Christopher Ropes, Doungjai Gam, Alvaro Zinos-Amaro, Carrie Laben, Kurt Fawver, David Peak, Don Webb and Duane Pesice, Paul Jessup, K.H. Vaughan, and more. The plan is to publish a deluxe color trade paperback edition in the same stunning quality as our 2018 color trade paperback editions of Ashes and Entropy.

As far as perks go, they have a bevy of them listed on their Kickstarter page (Oh? Did we already link that once? How about twice?), ranging from the low, low price of $15 to the high-rolling I-Watch-The-Wolf-Of-Wall-Street-Everyday price of $2,500. Ebooks, hardcopies, signed copies, Cadabra Records merch, Zoom meetings with Jon Padgett, Robert S. Wilson, and Matthew M. Bartlett, editorial services and more!

Horror is a niche genre, and weird horror is, like, double-niche. Please consider dropping some dough on this wonderful publisher to keep the wheels of the genre spinning.

You can find the Kickstarter here (Ha! Thrice!)!
