To Catch A Killer Review-
There are some things that dont work like fairly heavy handed social commentary on mental illness and gun control delivered in cluncky news reports early that take away from a greater meaning. Often if we are being spoon fed information it dilutes the moral imperative.
Ben Mendolsohn’s Geoffrey Lammark is a FBI agent who is regarded as an anomaly at best and a weirdo at worst. There is some early rhetoric that he may be disgraced. Shailene Woodley’s Officer eleanor Falco is a smart police officer with an inante talent for profiling as in the mold of Jodie Foster’s Clarice Starling. Shortly after meeting Lammark recruits the rookie officer to his team.
He is the sort of investogator that has iron clad rules and speaks in platitudes.
He’s quick to point out that jackals are everywhere.
They say things like “fart in a hurricane”. It’s not exactly sharp dialogue.
