Vampire Academy Episode 10 Ending Explained- Tatiana’s Plan And What You Need To Know Before Season 2
Vampire Academy Episode 10 gave us a thrilling conclusion to the Royal election season that ends on a bleak note for Team Lissa.
Tatiana’s plan is a success. By the end of Vampire Academy Episode 10, she is Queen, Lissa is on the run, and no one will ever be the same. Lives were lost, others were badly injured, and a few are on the run. However, things could look very different when Peacock’s hit series inevitably returns for Season 2. Here is everything you need to know about the season finale and what it means for Season 2.
As Vampire Academy Episode 10 opens, chaos reigns. The Strigoi have launched a full-scale attack now that the wards are down, and they are chowing down on anything they can get their hands on. Unfortunately, the wards can’t be resealed because the stake used to seal them by the monks is missing, and there aren’t extras lying around. The Royals are being loaded up by bus and evacuated, leaving everyone else to fend for themselves. Christian gives up his spot on the bus to go to the Archives. Ever the hero, he wants to atone for his parent’s evil deeds in any way he can.
Meanwhile, Mason finally told Rose about Dimitri, who was released when the Strigoi attacked. After a ton of fighting at several locations, including a perilous tunnel clearing that almost cost Dimitri his life, the entire group finds themselves swarmed by Strigoi. Along with Rose’s mother, who arrives in time to help Rose and Dimitri, they have to hold the line until the wards can be re-established. Time is not on their side, with a ticking clock counting down to disaster.
Christian is intelligent and driven and was able to figure out that what imbued the stake with power wasn’t blood but Spirit. Luckily he and Lissa reunite after her healing trek through the village. She can imbue the stake with Spirit, but she is depleted after helping many others. With Rose’s help, she can fill the stake, and Christian then fights his way through the Strigoi and resets the wards. Unfortunately, Mason was severely injured in the fight, and many others died. Dimitri and Rose split up again. He stays to help fight Tatiana and make things right while Rose goes with Lissa, who is now wanted as a suspect in Queen Marina’s murder.
Lissa also faces heartbreak as she leaves Christian behind despite being married in the eyes of the law. Not only do they care deeply about each other, but politically, they shore each other up. Now that she is running and he is a monk, I’m not sure how they proceed. Even after she can return, he may be bound by his religious duty. It will be interesting to watch the star-crossed lovers in Season 2.
What is Tatiana’s plan, and is she a Dhampir?
We now know Tatiana never cared about the power the crown would give her. Ruling over the dominion was never her end game. A blink and you might miss it clue tells us what she has been up to. As we saw last week, Andre did not die in the car crash. Tatiana had been pumping him(pun intended) both before and after the crash for information about how succession works. Part of her plan involved the Strigoi, who remain as loyal to her as the dragons are to their riders in House of the Dragon. That is to say, you can use them, but they won’t always do exactly what you want, no matter how much you think you are in control.
Andre astutely notices that Tatiana moves like a Dhampir when Christian’s mom threatens to feed on Andre. At first, the playboy had been giving information to Tatiana, not realizing what was happening. Later after he was taken, he did it to save Lissa and himself from pain. Tatiana never cared about ruling because she doesn’t want the power. She wants to destroy the system. She and Rose share a common bond and don’t even know it. Ironically those she is fighting against the most have similar thoughts. Lissa doesn’t want to rule from above. She stepped into the street to help the Morio after they had been left to fend for themselves. Rose definitely is tired of being used and discarded, although Lissa never treated her that way.
Both Lissa and Tatiana think the system has problems. Lissa sees many of the Royals are selfish and entitled. The Dhampir are forced to sacrifice daily for their duty. Perhaps if Tatiana wasn’t so ruthless, she might have found allies in this group instead of making enemies of those she doesn’t get killed. With Jesse finally free of his sadistic father, I wonder which side of things he will choose. He is a troubled young man with a vicious, violent streak, but I still predict a redemptive arc is coming for him. Maybe Silver can be the catalyst for his change.
In any case, how Tatiana came to be trained as a Dhampir, we still don’t know. In the books, she was secretly trained by her Guardian grant. She could be angry over his death, assuming he has died. Tatiana might also become an amalgamation of several characters. She could be a half-sibling of Rose or Lissa, who was secretly raised as a Royal all of this time by ambitious family members. If Rose meets her father next season, that could provide more insight.
What we know about the Strigoi
They seem to have zero sympathies or emotions left from their previous life. Christian’s parents and Sonya don’t have any qualms about destroying the people they once cared about. In the book, they are gorgeous, smart, and deadly. This series version of them makes them more monstrous but just as cruel. Sonya has no trouble killing Victor. Granted, he was essentially to blame for what happened to her, but she did have a choice. The darkness overwhelmed her, and now that she is a Strigoi along with Andre, I wonder what will happen to both Mia and Lissa. Christian is no longer the only one with Strigoi family members. The one thing we do know is the Alchemists from the human world view the Moroi and the Strigoi as equally dangerous. I am excited to see them in Season 2.
Vampire Academy Episode 10 was an exciting episode filled with courageous people being heroes. Unfortunately, it was equally packed with heartbreak. In between all the emotional beats were compelling nuggets of information that will undoubtedly form the plot threads we pull next season. Who is Rose’s father? What happens now that Andre is a Strigoi and how much trouble Tatiana can stir up before she is ousted are all questions I can’t wait to get answered. Here’s hoping Peacock picks up this gem soon.
