{News} First Look at CBS All Access The Stand
The good folks over at Vanity Fair gave us our first look at a few of the key players in the new The Stand mini series coming to CBS Access later this year. The article is full of little nuggets of information. Including that the story is going to be told in a non linear format. The first episode starts with the good guys already in Boulder, Colorado.
The Stand is based off the novel of the same name by Stephen King and could not be more timely.
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides – or are chosen. A world in which good rides on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail – and the worst nightmares of evil are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the dark man.
The Photos are the real gems here. We get a look at Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg. Whoopi Goldberg as the savior/messiah Abagail Freemantle. James Marsden takes on the role of Stu Redman who ultimately is our protagnist. Opposite of him Nat Wolff plays the prisoner come Flagg supporter Lloyd Henreid. There are a number of other familar faces rounding out the cast. Showrunners Benjamin Cavell and Taylor Elmore give a ton of details including how big of a gamble releasing a show about a pandemic could be right now.
Read the whole article over at Vanity Fair for all the details and pictures. The Stand does not have a release date yet but could be another compelling reason to get CBS All Access as the streaming wars pick up.
